The memes and digital media we grow up
with slowly become part of our personalities. They
shape what we think is funny, what we
like, what we dislike, and even how we
express ourselves. So much of who we are
is influenced by the media we consume. If
the lessons we learn can come from movies
and if Disney princess stories shape the narratives
kids grow up believing, then the memes, videos,
and online moments that raised us deserve the
same kind of attention.
Right now TikTok is the biggest platform, but
when I was growing up things were different. There
was Vine, Kik, and older versions of Instagram,
YouTube, and Snapchat that looked and worked nothing
like they do now. All those jokes, edits,
viral videos, and trends built my sense of
humour and connected me to people who understood
the same references. When someone still gets a
Vine quote, it feels like a small treasure
from another time.
I think it is important to acknowledge the
digital culture that shaped us, especially during the
years we were still figuring out who we
were. These pieces of online history stay with
us and become part of our story.
This was a great meme and it was our 6,7.
This was such a catchy song and EVERYONE knew it
This was one of the most popular vine videos, very funny
Vine in my opinion was the start of short form content, there were just 5 second videos here.
This app is one not that many people use anymore, this was basically Imessage
Instagram used to look very different i miss being able to stalk other people’s likes and follows
